Colleen Kurzawa

PhD student, Case Western Reserve University, MSN, MFA, RN

She has a MFA from Cleveland Institute of Art in medical illustration that included several classes at Case Western University School of Medicine. Colleen is proficient in teaching and has excellent design skills. At the University of Akron she was in charge of 180 first year nursing students (skills/simulation laboratory, clinical, and class lectures) and lectured on pathophysiology. She worked at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in the cardiovascular intensive care unit (cared for first heart transplant patient); general surgery nurse (assisted with first liver transplant and living donor, and first laparoscopic and robotic surgeries); and research under Dr. Bernadine Healy as coordinator off the POST CABG study. At University Hospital she was a research nurse (CAST study under Dr. Albert Waldo). Lastly, she was nighttime nursing supervisor at University Hospitals.
